Its integrated moderator made out of lightweight titanium protects the hearing of hunter and dog. The carbon thumbhole-stock made out of elaborately hand-laid carbon fibres offers the best damping performance and adds to the overall low weight of the S 404 Silence XTC. The harmonious combination of the integrated moderator and the carbon thumbhole-stock not only guarantees optimum balance, but also minimizes recoil.
The continuously smooth barrel-moderator combination evenly distributes the moderator’s weight over the entire length and thus provides less top-heaviness as when using an over or on-barrel moderator.
In terms of design, the barrel-moderator combination appears to be a stronger Match barrel thus making the S 404 a true eyecatcher.

The stock’s adjustable comb together with the Sauer Quattro trigger, turn the S 404 Silence XTC into an ultimate specialist regarding weight, ergonomics, shooting comfort and individual adjustment options.
An adjustable trigger featuring four different trigger pull weights that are individually adjustable. This is the perfect answer to the physiological effect chain of knowledge and acting. Crisp 550, 750, 1000 or 1250 g (1.2, 1.6, 2.2 or 2.7 lb) leave no doubts that your S 404 is already programmed for success prior to taking your shot.
Every successful competition shooter knows: Only the optimum position of the shooting finger on the trigger blade provides proper trigger pull and controlled shooting, without the risk of missing the target. With an 8 mm (0.3˝ ) adjustment range for length of pull and a left-to-right swivel range of 5 degrees, the S 404’s extra-wide trigger blade guarantees each shooter optimal contact to reliably hit the target.
The perfect ergonomical manual cocking system of the S 404 provides comfortable and silent cocking. By simply pressing the button with the thumb, the cocking slide silently slides back into the uncocked position. In order to open the bolt in an uncocked position, simply tap the cocking slide.
The modular design of the S 404 enables every SAUER 404 owner to convert their rifle to the Silence version. Depending on the original firearm, all that is needed is the conversion set consisting of interchangeable barrel, integrated moderator and forearm, or alternatively the conversion set with complete stock pair.
The barrel and receiver are made on site in Isny/Germany. Every barrel is cold-hammer forged and thus a guarantor for our precision of less than one MOA.
Our receivers are made using the latest CNC milling technology, in order to perfect the symbiosis of barrel and receiver as well as Sauer’s legendary smooth bolt operation.
